There’s a great line in Martin Scorsese’s The Departed when antagonistic cop Marc Wahlberg mouths off against a colleague claiming, ‘I’m the guy who does his job, you must be the other guy’, and now Wahlberg steps into the (gum)shoes of those Other Guys in this new cop comedy from Columbia.
Playing second fiddle to the bombastic cop duo of Samuel L Jackson and Dwayne Johnson are Wahlberg and Will Ferrell, whose ineptitude stands in sharp contrast to the celebrity crime fighting team of Jackson and Johnson, and The Other Guys looks to follow Kevin Smith’s Cop Out into the 21st Century buddy movie echelon.
There’s a new trailer which shows off the two teams going about their duties, and it looks like it will fare pretty well, as long as the one joke set up is elevated by some fine performances, which the cast are more than capable of.
