This trailer for the new film from John Woo and his co-director Su Chao-Pin, Reign of Assassins, may not deviate from the thousand other martial arts films we’ve seen and the wire work which so excited in the outlandish hyper real aerial battles of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Tiger is getting a little ordinary, but there’s a wealth of talent on offer here.
Oh, and there’s some guy with flaming swords – that’s pretty cool.
The always excellent Michelle Yeoh stars with Jung Woo-sung, recently seen in The Good, The Bad, The Weird and the trailer does its job of setting out the scene of love and betrayal, forgotten pasts and uncertain futures and there’s plenty of ominous talk before the hitting takes place.
