Tim Robbins Joins The Green Lantern

Good news for fans of The Green Lantern in that THR have reported today that Tim Robbins has signed on to join the cast to play the ‘disapproving father’, Senator Hammond of the badie, Dr. Hector Hammond who is played by Peter Sarsgaard. Robbins joins the movie that has also already cast Ryan Reynolds in the lead role and it’s set for release Summer 2011.

THR: Tim Robbins is joining the cast of “Green Lantern,” the Martin Campbell-directed tentpole at Warner Bros. that’s based on the DC Comics superhero.

Robbins will play Senator Hammond, the disapproving father of the movie’s villain, Dr. Hector Hammond (Peter Sarsgaard), who becomes infused with psychic powers.

The movie is cruising to a March start in New Orleans. Donald De Line and Greg Berlanti are producing.

I’m no big comic book movie junkie but this is a movie I’m looking forward to seeing and now that Robbins has joined on to, it’s just gone higher up the 2011 list!
