i have to say, i went in thinking holy shit holy shit finally something to redeem vampire movies because with all the twilight movies vampires were starting to come off as faggy. Although it wasn't as thrilling as I expected it to turn out (it started off in the first 20 mins a bit crazy but in a good way and was creepy good but then the next 30-45 mins kinda dragged on) it still was a very good movie and brought back the vampires we all know and love. no sissy sparkling they actually have some balls and vamps can actually go bad in a more gruesome way again. what i really enjoyed was the special effects on the vampire deaths. (dont get me wrong vampires are so cool but watching them die is fun because its so much more explosive *literally* and fun to watch) but most vampire movies/tv shows with the exception of blade and true blood don't exactly focus on making the deaths look realistic they focus more on the human deaths looking real and the vamp deaths just end up looking too cartoony or video game-like. anyways this is a review of daybreakers not a discussion on vamp movies sorry. GO SEE DAYBREAKERS. dont expect it to be the next blade or an A+ go see it a million times movie but i'd give it a solid B+ and now that the story is set up more and the sequel is set up i think we can expect a more action packed but still story-driven vamp sequel. either way the first Daybreakers will always be one of those movies that i remember for a long time and whenever someone asks me "man i wish i could find a good vampire movie these days" ill tell them "watch Daybreakers"
the good: awesome story, Ethan Hawke and William Dafoe make good heroes and Ethan certainly makes a good vampire as well as Sam Neil makes a good vampire villian. when i saw him in this i thought back to Event Horizon. in other words i saw the creepy evil awesome Sam Neil i remember from that sci-fi/horror flick which came out long ago. anyways also the finale was pretty good and seeing how Ethan conquered Neil it was an interesting twist and a very satisfying way to end the final battle. on other thing although alot of the movie was slow the story never got uninteresting and that made up for the lack of action and the movie did keep me somewhat thrilled with a few quick creepy parts showing how vampires reacted to the blood shortage. so even through the slow point of the movie they atleast creeped me out a little but like i said the story made up for the lack of scares

The bad: started and ended thrilling and creepy good and pretty awesome but the majority of the movie in between (a good 45-50 mins) was a bit too slow and some of the battles between humans and vamps, which were really more ambushes actually, were a little weak i mean they weren't all bad but they ended too quickly it was like more of an ambush than a battle like i said..

all and all it was a great movie and u should see it.............NOW
