Carcaterra has previously brought us the novel ‘Sleepers’ which was then turned into an amazing movie by director Barry Levinson. Bruckheimer has had a few different screenwriters give the novel a going over to see if they could turn the book into a movie. So far no one has impressed him and it’s sat on a shelf for the past 12 years.

All that may change though as Variety are reporting that he’s blown the dust off the project and hired Sean O’Keefe and Will Staples to see if they can create a cracking new screenplay.

The novel focuses on a group of six retired NYPD cops who decide to start fighting crime without the help of official channels. They find themselves battling against a drug cartel using their connections to bring it down.

This movie could be great; using slightly older actors who you could believe were retired but could still kick some ass! Could this be a chance for Robert De Niro and Al Pacino to have another go at performing together or they a bit too old now?

Who else do you think would be a good casting? Let us know in the comments…
