We saw the wonderful first trailer for Liberal Arts this week, which sees Josh Radnor (How I Met Your Mother) return behind the camera for his sophomore effort.

Starring Radnor and the brilliant Elizabeth Olsen (Martha Marcy May Marlene) in the leads, the film debuted at Sundance earlier this year to excellent reviews, and was one of the fourteen films selected to join us at Sundance London a few months later, where I saw and instantly fell in love with the film.

And now, following that great first trailer and the new US poster, two new images from the film have made their way online, giving us a look at Radnor and Olsen.

“Newly single, 35, and uninspired by his job, Jesse Fisher worries that his best days are behind him. But no matter how much he buries his head in a book, life keeps pulling Jesse back. When his favourite college professor invites him to campus to speak at his retirement dinner, Jesse jumps at the chance. He is prepared for the nostalgia of the dining halls and dorm rooms, the parties and poetry seminars; what he doesn’t see coming is Zibby – a beautiful, precocious, classical-music-loving sophomore. Zibby awakens scary, exciting, long-dormant feelings of possibility and connection that Jesse thought he had buried forever.”

Radnor is directing from his own script once more, and has assembled a fine cast, with Richard Jenkins, Allison Janney, Elizabeth Reaser, and Zac Efron completing the support very nicely.

Liberal Arts will be released in the US on 14th September, and then head across the Atlantic for a UK release on 5th October. I can’t wait to see this film again, and I hope you’ll join me when it reaches a cinema near you. For now, enjoy these two new images, and as usual, you can click to enlarge.
